Steps to A New Level of Success

I have yet to take a course and find myself in a situation where EVERYTHING was right, as I have yet to get straight A's in any given semester there has ALWAYS been room for IMPROVEMENT. I often find myself struggling with little things in certain courses that usually go a long way before being resolved and over time these sub-par performances no matter how minute, ACCUMULATE over time.
Knowing the struggles that I usually have in various courses that often times fly under the radar for a prolonged period of time, I read the list of suggested problem solving strategies for the week and immediately found one that would work for a problem that I had just been struggling with like 2 hours prior to; One Step At A Time became my problem solving strategy of choice. One Step At A Time has you identify your problem and get to the root of it, as well layout it's consequences and come to a solution, all in one easy process that's broken down into a simple four step process. It's in table form and you identify the problem, followed by 2 consequences as a result of the action or situation that has been identified as the problem. Then you come up with 3 potential solutions or "Possible To Do's" and from there you come up with a concrete solution or "Will Do".

My first class of choice to use with One Step At A Time was my Statics class. At the start of class the syllabus was provided with every assignment for every week of the semester on it. There is an assignment assigned every Monday and Wednesday associated with the day's lecture and the two assignments are due every Friday at 5 o'clock. I often times find myself not doing the assignments until Thursday night into Friday or not until Friday at 2 o'clock after my classes and when I actually manage to submit it, it's always a huge struggle, and often times of poor quality. Homework is 13% of the final grade so my slipping up will catch up to me and I will be kicking myself come the end of the semester. So once I went through the One Step At A Time process, as shown, I came out with the solution that I believe that will best. It turned out to be a mix of my "Possible To Do's" and I feel like actually having to list possible ways to improve turned out to provide a better solution than I would have came up with by just thinking of solutions. I also used One Step At A Time for my Linear Algebra class as I usually don't perform as well as I want to on my weekly quizzes but have trouble finding ways to improve. Again I identified that as the problem, listed consequences, possible solutions, and came up with that final solution.
I feel like One Step At A Time was really the right way for me because when I have trouble finding motivation it takes knowing the negatives that may arise to really perform well. I've already begun to put these solutions into act and just awaiting the final turnouts come next week. Anyone in a situation like mine, who knows the problem, knows where they need to be, but just has trouble with the in between steps, will find sure-fire success with this strategy as it does exactly what it says, takes it One Step At A Time.
